Antone Smith has done the unthinkable, and has signed a letter of intent to play football at Florida State in 2005.
Smith held a press conference in front of hundreds of spectators at Pahokee High School. “My heart was with FSU all along,” said Smith as hundreds of people looked on in disbelief.
This comes as a surprise to many as Smith told media he was down to Auburn and Miami. Never once was FSU mentioned as a destination for the star running back.
Perhaps he knew all long with some sense of retaliation for last year’s mockery of Florida State by current Hurricane Willie Williams.
Williams knew his destination all along, but toyed with Florida State fans during the recruiting process, convincing them he would be part of their recruiting class.
The nation’s top running back, Smith led his team to a second consecutive state championship, rushing for 2,884 yards and 44 touchdowns.
